Drive Down Historic Route 66

#

An important attraction that runs directly through the heart of Miami is Historic Route 66. Ottawa County has a rare stretch of the old historic highway with 13 miles of the original ribbon road stretching through Miami and the county.

In fact, Route 66 in Miami has the last section of the original Ribbon Road, listed as an Oklahoma National Historic Landmark. Miami and Ottawa County provide a variety of stops for the traveler on Route 66. Aside from various shops and restaurants, the area offers historic stops and fun activities along the longest surviving pieces of the ribbon road.

If you are on 66 and your car will handle some jolts, try to travel at least one of the two nine-foot stretches of original Ribbon Road that zigzag between Miami and Afton.
